Domestic stuff

With the rising cost of living recently I am getting quite conscious of conserving energy and have starting saying things to Ian like "quick get in the kitchen and make the tea before we have to boil the kettle again." (Note I am too lazy to do it myself.)

Washing... I hung some on the line Thursday, it has dried three times over. It is now Sunday has started to rain and it's still out there! Not good wife and mother skills, just waiting for the complaints.

More badge packaging

This is another frame to be printed onto card so I can pin my badges in the centre and make them look pretty! I am having a lot of fun doing this.

The Butterfly Woods

I have been doing some tinkering with this painting, a slight color change, a name change and of course the butterflies. I like it a lot more now!

The love pixies

This is my little love pixies painting, the bottom one with the original colours and just underneath a version of the girl that I played with in photoshop, oh and the butterflies they are going on everything at the moment.

I stumbled upon it though another bloggers site. A free on-line portfolio of three images is available through a selection process so I am very happy to have been accepted. I think I will probably upgrade my portfolio at some point but I have a sore head at the moment because I am also uploading my stuff to deviant art! Oh I'm not good at this stuff it takes me an age and I just keep thinking painting time ticking away, but no complaints, tonight is Tuesday and the only good TV night we have at the moment, Battlestar Galactica and Smallville such treats!

Cuckoo clock tattoo commission

I got asked by the lovely bubbly Kelli to design a Cuckoo clock tattoo. It started off as a tree but then Kelli came up with the idea of a cuckoo clock, it is going to be on her back with the weights hanging down, (how sexy). I can't wait to see the final results but she has to save up for the tattoo first after paying me, ha! It was fun working with Kelli, she had loads of good ideas and I have some great work that has come out of the project once I get a chance to work on it.

Badge packaging

This is a design for packaging for my badges. It will be printed onto card and the badge will be pinned in the centre. I hate calling it packaging I am always torn between making things look pretty and being eco friendly but I also need to make them look good, dilemma!

Making badges

A lot of my paintings are quite complex I think I get a bit carried away, it keeps me entertained painting them but they end up too detailed to see in small scale so I am taking some time from making to see what  I can do with what I already have!
I have been having fun making badge designs for when I get my badge making machine!

Printers?

The hunt is on for a really good printer. I had got it into my head that a laser printer was what I needed.

Luckily I had the inspired idea to cheekily ask a handful of other artists selling on Etsy who's work was detailed and figurative like mine what they were using. I only expected one or two people to reply but everyone I asked took the time to offer some really useful information. What a lovely bunch of people!

I want an A3 printer that can produce excellent quality archival standard fine art prints. I think I have narrowed the search to the Epson Stylus R1900 or the Epson Stylus 2400 Inkjet printers these both use pigment inks but then Ian suggested the Cannon Pixma pro 9000 which sounds great except it uses dye based inks which don't last as long for archival purposes. 

I am spending quite a few evenings reading reviews on the really useful Photo-i.
